BEACONSFIELD OLDTIMERS HOCKEY TOURNAMENT (BOHT)RULES AND REGULATIONS
NOTE: It is the responsibility of every player, Coach, Manager and Team Executive and Guest to be familiar with the Rules and Regulation of the Tournament.
Age: All players participating in the BOHT must meet the minimum age requirement for their division, based on their age as of the tournament's start date. In the event of contestation, proof of age must be provided if requested by the Tournament Committee. Any and all games played using an under age player will be forfeited by a score of 2 0.
Rules acknowledgement & agreement: All players participating in the BOHT will be required to sign a form acknowledging and agreeing to the tournament rules and regulations before their first game.
Equipment: As per current Quebec law governing sports regulations, approved helmets, full face mask protection, neck protectors and skate guards are mandatory.
Roughing Play: Any team(s) displaying rough play will be given one (1) warning. Team(s) will be expelled from the tournament if the warning is ignored.
Game Plan
- 60 minutes - 2 periods of running time
- Warm up 2 minutes
- First period 20 minutes
- Second period 25 minutes
- Scrape & Flood 10 minutes
- The last minute of the 2nd period will be stop time if the score is tied or if there is a 1 goal difference
- Teams must be ready to start on time or the game will be forfeited.
PLAYERS
- Number of Players
- There is no limit to the number of players. As many as you wish can be dressed for the tournament. We suggest a minimum of fourteen (14) so as to be competitive.
- All players must have played at least two games in the Three Game Round Robin before competing in Semi Final or Final games
- No player is permitted to play on more than one team in the tournament.
- Roster sheet
- The number of players dressed for any game must be the same as on the roster sheet provided to the timekeeper.
- Replacement Goaltender
- Due to illness, injury, or absence) Teams with only one or no goaltender dressed must accept a replacement provided by the BOHT Committee, if they are not able to find their own replacement.
PLAYING RULES
- No Body Contact:
- o Any player who bodies intentionally, pushes, shoves or stands in front of and does not avert body contact with an opponent will be assessed a body contact minor penalty.
- No Slap Shots:
- o Play will be blown dead and the face-off will be in the offending team's end. The stick blade cannot be further than one foot from the puck before being struck.
- No Fighting:
- o Should a fight develop, the offending player(s) will be assessed a game and Tournament misconduct and the team will play shorthanded for five minutes.
- Length Of Penalties *** face-off will be in the offending team's end
- MINOR. 2 minutes stop time
- MAJOR. 5 minutes stop time
- MISCONDUCT. 10 minutes running time
- Match Penalties:
- Will be assessed for butt ending, spearing, kicking, or attempt to injure. (Any match penalty will terminate the player's further participation in the Tournament) A major penalty will be assessed and served by someone on the ice at the time of the infraction.
- Any player assessed SIX MINUTES of PENALTIES in one game will be given a GAME MISCONDUCT. Any Major or Misconduct penalty will also result in an automatic Game Misconduct penalty.
- Icing Rule:
- o At equal strength, when a player shoots the puck from his own end or before crossing the center ice line and the puck crosses the goal line, icing is called and the face off is in the end zone of the team shooting the puck.
- No time outs are allowed during the round robin or final games:
- o All other referees' decisions will be governed by C.A.H.A. rules.
DECLARING STANDINGS AND DIVISION WINNERS
- Group Standing in Round Robin Play (First 3 games
- Each group will play a point series: 2 for a win, 1 for a tie.
- b. In the event of two teams being tied in the standings within a Division, the tie shall be broken in the following manner:
- The result of head-to-head competition between the teams;
- Least goals against by the teams in round robin play;
- Goal differential in round robin play;
- First goal scored in head-to-head competition.
- c. In the event of more than two teams being tied in the standings within a Division, the tie shall be broken in the following manner:
- Least goals against by each team in round robin play;
- Goal differential in round robin play;
- If this procedure still leaves two of the teams tied, the procedures for two teams being tied shall then be applied.
- DECLARING WINNERS IN FINALS (if tied after regulation time):
- Shoot-Out:
- 3 shooters per team, identified before the shootout starts, shooting alternately.
- 3 shooters per team, identified before the shootout starts, shooting alternately.
- Note: Every player (with the exception of the goaltender), must shoot once before any player shoots twice.Goal differential in round robin play;
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to restrict the participation of Teams, Players & Guests.
Any rule, interpretation, procedure, or dispute not specifically covered above will be reviewed and ruled upon by a quorum of the Tournament Committee whose decision will be binding.
